RIGGLES FARM HOUSE
We've not applied for formal certification but we try to adhere to the principles laid out by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) in a similar way to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and we use Biodynamic methods. Principles are:
- Produce food of high nutritional quality using biodynamic methods
- Work with natural systems with emphasis on biodynamic systems
- Encourage and enhance biological cycles involving micro-organisms, soil flora and fauna, plants and animals
- Maintain and increase long-term fertility of soils
- Use renewable resources in locally organised agricultural systems
- Work as much as possible within a closed system with the regard to organic matter and nutrient elements
- Avoid all forms of pollution that may result from agricultural techniques
- Maintain genetic biodiversity and its surroundings including the protection of plant and wildlife habitats
- allow agricultural producers an adequate return and satisfaction from their work including a safe working environment
- consider the wider social and economic impact of the farming system
